Η ανάπτυξη του καρκίνου είναι μια πολύπλοκη βιολογική διεργασία. Χάρη στην επιστημονική έρευνα, έχουμε ολοένα και περισσότερη γνώση για τη διαδικασία του καρκίνου. Οι ορμόνες, στοιχεία του ανοσοποιητικού μας συστήματος και οι κληρονομικές αλλαγές στο γενετικό υλικό ενός κυττάρου, είναι παράγοντες που μπορούν να παίξουν ρόλο στην ανάπτυξη του καρκίνου.
